About Jake Wang

I’m an operator and aspiring business owner based in Austin, Texas, focused on acquiring and building enduring small businesses that serve their communities.

I founded West Lake Legacy to acquire a high-quality HVAC business as a long-term owner–operator. My goal is to steward local companies with care — honoring the people, customers, and craftsmanship that make them durable.

Before launching West Lake Legacy, I spent over a decade in technology and finance, most recently at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where I helped enterprise clients translate complex systems into measurable outcomes. Earlier in my career, I built analytics and sales functions at VC-backed startups and Fortune 100 companies, including Walmart, HomeLight, and Deloitte Consulting.

I’m MIT-trained in finance, with a background in computer science and operations. Today, I’m applying those analytical frameworks to small business ownership — combining rigor and empathy to build something lasting.

I’m also currently pursuing an A.A.S. in HVAC at Austin Community College to deepen my trade-level understanding and prepare for Texas mechanical licensing.
